Over 70 dogs were rescued from horrible conditioners. The Quinte Humane Society has taken in all the dogs and needs our help to support their efforts.

Sojourner and pal Emmy hang out in the store. Sojourner is wearing his ComfortFlex harness. He knows he is stylin' and very visible as the sun sets earlier. He is safe on our walks. Not to mention the Comfort Flex harness is easy for him to run and play in. He loves to jump in ponds, pools and puddles and his harness dries quickly. He even wears it when he is Dockdiving.

"Vaccinations: All Veterinary Schools in North America Changing Vaccination Protocols
Recent editions of the Senior Dogs Project's newsletter have reported on the ever-broadening trend of eliminating vaccinations for adult dogs, except for rabies, where required by state law. We have now had a report that all 27 veterinary schools in North America are in the process of changing their protocols for vaccinating dogs and cats. Here, in a nutshell, are the new guidelines under consideration: "Dogs and cats immune systems mature fully at 6 months. If a modified live virus (MLV) vaccine is given after 6 months of age, it produces immunity, which is good for the life of the pet (i.e., canine distemper, parvo, feline distemper). If another MLV vaccine is given a year later, the antibodies from the first vaccine neutralize the antigens of the second vaccine and there is little or no effect. The titer is not 'boosted' nor are more memory cells induced. "

Our Zisc has it's Third Birthday
Everything we carry at BauHound Haus must have our dogs' stamp of approval. They try and test it all. One of our favourites is West Paw toys. In particular the Zisc that we have had for three years now. This awesome frisbee has even spent a winter lost in the snow and still retains all the quality and strength as the day we bought it! These days the Zisc spends almost everyday with Sojourner - as disc is his new favourite thing to do on our walks. Even with Sojourner's new love affair with it's high flying ways, it still remains strong and bright.

Positive Training Started at BauHound Haus
The completion of the Training Studio in the basement of BauHound Haus meant Positive Training classes for puppies started last week. In honour of the new classes, we thought we would share a funny clip from the show "Big Bang Theory" about the difference between positive training and punishment based training.
